All About Oppo Patents

Oppo is a smartphone manufacturer that thinks Out of the box. After the baby shark fin pop-up camera that is going to debut with the Oppo Reno, if you thought the company was done with innovative thinking, you would be wrong.

According to a unique patent spotted at the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), Oppo is working on a smartphone that brings back a classic meme. Instead of following the trend of foldable phones, Oppo plans to offer you a screen in your screen.

LetsGoDigital tracked the patents and made a mock-up display that shows the efforts of Oppo’s Research and Development (R&D) wing!

While other smartphone manufacturers are moving towards new design choices, Oppo is determined to stand out.

Oppo and Vivo are currently the market leaders when it comes to pop-up cameras, a few other phone manufacturers have introduced the new design element on their phones.

Samsung has innovated with the cut-out camera, and Huawei has presented a phone that can practically take pictures in pure black.

We saw an example of Oppo using this type of mechanism once before with the Oppo Find X. The phone was a zippered phone that we hadn’t seen since Nokia was the king of the original phones at the beginning of 2000.

According to these designs, Oppo’s new phones will have a screen that appears from the top of the phone or from the side. The million yen question remains what these elaborate screens will be used for.

The patent was filed on January 29, 2019, suggesting that Oppo wanted to protect its intellectual property from the prying eyes of its competitors.

Although we are still at the beginning of 2019, there is still a lot of time for many technology fairs, innovations in the smartphone industry, and the opportunity to introduce new design choices to smartphones.

We know that Oppo does not have phones that will soon appear with these design choices, but maybe the phones that will succeed the Oppo Reno can show signs of the new display technology in action or suggest their purpose.
